Lady, Mind That Corpse

By Hank Janson

The young Hank Janson, yet to embark on his career as a crime reporter, is enjoying life on the open road in his new car. Stopping off to do a bit of fishing, he meets a kid who seems to be sleeping rough by the river - a chance encounter that causes him more trouble than he bargained for, as it draws him into a web of small-town political corruption, intrigue - and murder

With their erotic pin-up covers and hardboiled crime tales, the Hank Janson pulp paperbacks were a British publishing sensation in the 1940s and 1950s, selling millions of copies to readers craving escapism from post-war austerity. Prosecutions under Britain's then-harsh obscenity laws dealt them a severe blow, however, and today they are highly sought-after by collectors.

Lady, Mind That Corpse, just the second full-length novel in the Hank Janson series, is reissued by Telos Publishing complete with the sensational Reginald Heade cover artwork that graced its original September 1948 edition.
