Abusive aristocratic husband commits one outrage too many

An interesting look at aristocratic marriages during the Regency Period, this novel bares the plight of a young commoner who falls out of love with her despicable husband, only to face the realities of what little rights she has as a wife and a woman. One of Marion Chesney's more intense looks at the hypocritical restrictions governing Regency society, this is an entertaining, fast-paced read, involving political intrigue as well as a forbidden love.
