Robert, Sir Audley's handsome nephew, is strongly tempted by Lucy's charms - although convinced that he hides a dark secret about the disappearance of his good friend George Talboys. Amid these maneuvers is Alicia, the daughter of Sir Audley, as a young woman waiting for a marriage proposal from Robert, without suspecting that she is sinking deeper and deeper into the obsession with her stepmother, Lucy. Volunteering in a second-hand book store has, without a doubt, its advantages - although that means falling into ruin ...-, and it is that every day works by authors that I do not know but who I'm looking forward to meeting. My favorite section is usually that of literature and it was precisely in this section that I found the novel that I come to review today.Coincidentally, a few days after I bought it, an acquaintance of mine who knows about literature and who knows my inclination towards Victorian novels recommended me to read it. The interesting thing is that it is one of those novels that I began to read blindly, attracted by the title and the cover, believing that it was a novel of romantic tint, but that in the end it has turned out to be a fascinating mystery novel.
