The last thing Bastien wants is to remain under his controlling uncle's thumb. But when the patriarch passes the family company reins to Bastien, the heir is determined to prove himself. Especially when Phaedra Burke-Carter enters the picture. The sexy, savvy consultant is supposed to help Bastien improve safety and workplace conditions. But their desire in the boardroom leads to a dalliance in the bedroom. And that's anything but safe. Phaedra is hungry for success and has the well-worn power suits to prove it. And never mixing business with pleasure has always been her best policy--until now. When handsome, commanding Bastien comes through for her just in the nick of time, Phaedra might learn that an "office romance" doesn't have to be an obstacle; it's a temptation.
I have been waiting for another story about the Thibeadaux family since reading 'A Perfect Pair' in 2001 and it was well worth the wait! Remy is at it again in this story and G-Paw the matriarch is still large and in charge even with his failing health and age. Bastien is now in the place in the business where Chas was in 'A Perfect Pair' and Remy is out to undermine him like he tried to do with Chas. Bastien is encourged to hire a saftey specialist to help prevent the accidents that have been happening with his employees. He hires Phaedra Burke-Carter and for some reason senses that they have met before. She does her job well and things start to improve on the job and Remy hates it because he feels G-Paw will choose Bastien to be head of the company over him. It comes to light how Bastien knows Phaerdra and love blooms but Remy does what he does best and undermines Bastien. When the truth comes to light all hell breaks loose. This was a great sequel to the first book about this family plus you get to find out a little more about Chas and Jacie from the first book. Loved it! I even went back and read the first story again because I enjoyed this book so much!
