A child's guide to drawing baby animals. It contains step-by-step instructions and the lessons progress incrementally, starting with the basic head shape and anatomy and continuing through a wide range of stretching and action poses and with a variety of facial expressions. The volume also discusses how to infuse drawings with personality to make figures come to life.
Shame someone felt upset that Christopher Hart has published animal variety drawing books along with specific animals drawing books. Seriously, would you not buy chocolates from a chocolate shop because they sell variety boxes of chocolates as well as boxes of just one kind of chocolate? Of course not! Christopher Hart gives you choices! If you want to learn a little bit about how to draw a variety of animals you can buy that book. If you just want to learn how to draw an extensive variety of dogs or cats, then you can just buy the book on that specific animal. In my opinion, Christopher Hart teaches the RIGHT way to draw. His techniques work and he uses simple shapes and humor to make drawing fun regardless of your age or experience with drawing. Although I bought this book, I also bought the book the negative commenter recommends by Preston Blair. Don't get me wrong, Preston can definitely draw, no question. But his style of teaching was very difficult to understand. His examples and teaching method seemed like it would be much better suited in a classroom setting where a teacher can explain the rest of what you need to know to draw the kinds of things he draws. Christopher Hart books teach in a way that allow you to learn outside of a formal classroom setting. I hope this review was helpful!
