Slow cookers are easy to use, and are essentially the same no matter what brand you have. There's just three parts: the actual slow cooker itself which houses the electric parts; the interior pot, which is removable; and the lid. On the slow cooker, there will be a control knob or control panel, which will be slightly different depending on the brand and how "fancy" your cooker is. The most basic ones will have a "high" and "low" heat setting. Others may have a "medium" heat setting, "keep warm," and timers, so you can program the cooker to start and end at a certain time without you present. Generally, slow cookers have a temperature between 174 and199 degree F.
When you're ready to prepare a meal in your slow cooker, always read the recipe. You might be told to cook ingredients like garlic or onion in a skillet first before adding to your slow cooker. Sometimes you add ingredients in stages, because some take a shorter time. While most recipes have liquid, there are some that don't, either because the ingredients generate their own moisture, or it's just not a recipe that needs it.
When the meal is ready, make sure whatever meat you've used (if you've used any) is cooked to a safe temperature. After you've enjoyed your meal and it's time to clean up, you can wash out the interior pot and inside of the lid with a soft sponge, soap, and water. To clean the outside of the cooker, just wipe down with a damp paper towel. Easy!
