Told in both Basque and English, Karmentxu and the Little Ghost is a simply-told, warmhearted story that speaks to common childhood fears about an uncommon subject.
Karmentxu is a special little girl. She is enchanting and unique, but also struggles with mental illness. She imagines that she sees a little ghost who prefers to play with children, not scare them. Since Karmentxu's release from the hospital, her Aunt Edurne has kept a close eye on her--when Karmentxu begins talking to herself, apparently suffering a relapse, Aunt Edurne calls her doctors.
Afraid to be institutionalized again, Karmentxu runs away. She and the little ghost encounter a wonderful carnival. Though Karmentxu is found by her doctors and her aunt, the little ghost promises to wait for her until she is released.
