An excellent introduction on the Ukidokan Karate System developed by Benny "The Jet" Urquidez.

The author is well-known as a world champion full contact kick boxer and martial arts teacher. He has also been in a few movies that really showed his amazing martial arts ability. This book is about his own fighting system. It includes both the philosophy and the basic techniques of his Ukidokan system. This text explains what the name "Ukidokan" means, the rules of his karate system, the philosophy of his karate system and how to deal with fear. There are chapters on how to use the various punches, strikes and kicks, as well as how to defend against numerous attack scenarios. There is also a very simple Ukidokan kata shown in chapter seven. In conclusion, this is a very good book about the Ukidokan Karate system for those who are interested in Benny Urquidez's approach to karate and self-defense. Rating: 5 stars. Joseph J. Excellent reading material on The Jet's system of Karate

This book is very concise and deals with all facets of his art/philosophy equally. There isn't anything [I find] that is left out and shows you quite a few techniques. All techniques and methodology are explained in great detail--in plain English. Good Work Benny. :)

One of the best karate instructional books of the century

Benny 'The Jet' Urquidez is without any doubt one of the greatest kickboxers of all time. But very few people know that he is also one of the best karateka/martial artists. He was a great champion who appreciates the true value of traditional karate and has improved and modified it with the American ideology of pragmatism. Remember this book is NOT about sport karate for competition. Everything he covers in this book is geared for self-defense, the original purpose of the physical side of karate. Ukidokan is truly The Jet's system of karate which emphasizes discipline, respect, and self-defense in realistic manner.
