JUST FOR THE SUMMER by Abby Jimenez My first Abby Jimenez book! I probably should have read the first two novels in this loosely connected series, but I don’t feel it was a detriment to my reading experience. I usually don’t care for the “insta-love” trope, but I was lured in by Justin’s chapters/POV. The cute surveys, exit interviews, and such were lighthearted and fun. Who doesn’t love a man who can plan? I even enjoyed his banter with Emma. That said, Emma came off as a whiny, “woe is me” type. As her backstory was unveiled, her lack of coping skills was frustrating. In the end, she managed to get me to root for her. Begrudgingly. I now understand how/why Jimenez’s novels are so popular. Her writing here is witty, digestible, and she has created solid, relatable, likeable characters. This book is the very definition of a beachy summer/escapism read. Rating: 4/5 ⭐️

This book was soooo good. Made me laugh and made me cry. Definitely recommend!
