A little boy imagines that the everyday objects around him are fantastic creatures as he goes about his day. This description may be from another edition of this product.
ISBN 0060290536 - Fans of Calvin and Hobbes will love this book. Adult Calvin fans will love sharing this book with little ones! Just Another Morning isn't quite "just another book". A young boy awakens in the morning to find himself... in a zoo! A quick escape and a perilous journey past giants and down a mountain leads him to a feast and, when the giants wake, a secret door offers him a chance to vanish. The boy's extraordinary day continues until finally, captured by a giant, he is forced to eat sticks and weeds and drink a "magic sleeping punch". When he wakes up from his slumber, he finds himself... in a zoo! Children with wild imaginations always make for great kids' books. There's nothing like the ability to see colored rocks as sparkling jewels to make an ordinary day into an adventure. The nameless boy here really does bear a resemblance, in spirit, to Calvin and illustrator Claudio Munoz has even created some physical likenesses, as well (probably not intentionally, which makes me wonder if wildly imaginative little boys have a physical stereotype). The text, by author Linda Ashman, is in rhyme. The vocabulary is fairly easy, for young readers, but this is one that really ought to be read aloud. - AnnaLovesBooks
The Freedom of a Child's Imagination

My son who just turned four absolutely adores this book. He calls it "The Book Where the Little Boy Gets Up and Does Whatever He Wants." The story starts out by the little boy waking up in the zoo (amongst the stuffed animals in his bed) and follows him throughout his day (spent in his pajamas of course)where he wrestles with snakes (the garden hose), ventures through the jungle (his Mother's garden) and is finally wrestled by a giant (his Dad) who feeds him magic sleeping punch (juice) and he goes to sleep...only to start all over again...Engaging, charming and creative! The illustrations are colorful and precious! I highly recommend it! We should all have such freedom:-)
