A must read

If your in 3-6th grade and like historical fiction you will love this book! It tells about the journey of a girl named "mem" and her family as they travel to Genese county in covered wagon. It's a great book with tons of twists that will keep you reading. If you like this then i highly suggest you read the seguel, "Frozen Summer"

one of my favorites

I first read this book years back when I was in elementary school, and to this day, as a college student, I still have my copy. In fact, I recently bought the other two books in the trilogy "Frozen Summer" and "Journey Back Home", because I was so fond of the storyline. Mary Jane Auch does a great job in keeping you interested in Rememberance "Mem" Nye's problems, and how she resolves them, and after looking at the Author's notes at the end, you know you're reading something historically accurate because she went out of her way to do her research. After reading the trilogy, (after wishing there was more to read about Mem) I thought, "wow I can't believe people lived like that 200 years ago.." Overall, a great book, although I must confess it would appeal more to young girls than boys.

I recommend this book to 4th and 5th graders especially. This book is very exciting once you start reading it you won't want to stop! There is a lot of adventure and sometimes-freaky parts in Journey to Nowhere. As `Mem' the main character, falls off her family's wagon and travels farther and farther into the woods I guarantee you won't want to stop reading this book!

A good start to what sounds like an interesting series.

"Journey to Nowhere" was nonstop and never boring. Although it doesn't give a feel of what the trail was like, it showed unsafe traveling was, and what life was like once settling on fresh land, without a house. Auch showed how dangerous living in the open terrain was and how blind some people were to those dangers. I certainly recommend this book to readers who are interested in this era and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is a great book about a girl and her family moving west

This is a wonderful book that touches the heart in many ways when Rememberence Nye, a 11 year old girl, and her family moves from Conneticut to New York. Their journey turned out not to be an easy one when Remberence gets left behind on their journey. It was thrilling to see what would happen next on their increadible journey westward bound.
