Inspirational!

This book is an inspiration to the human spirit. The story of Bill's early life will touch the heart of everyone who reads it. What he managed to overcome with such a humble spirit should leave us all in awe. I can't wait for the sequel to be published!

Journey Out of Silence

William Rush is a real person. He wants us all to know this first - before we make any assumptions about him based on his appearance. I have learned so much by reading his book about the world he inhabits, and which contains him with so called abled people's prejudices about people who live with handicaps. He has opened my eyes farther, in one book, to the world my son who has CP inhabits, and has made me a much better mother for him thereby. Reading Bill's story should be required in our schools, churches and institutions of higher learning - all of the places he has been successful in spite of the difficulties imposed upon him by their, not his, limitations. He has, by embracing the technologies that have given him a voice, come out of the silence to speak for many who cannot, and most importantly to help the rest of us accept ALL of us. Human societies are becoming more humane through the work of courageous men and women like Bill. My son wants to be one of those people, and Bill has inspired him. My son's teacher went to college with Bill, and introduced us to his book. We are grateful to her, and to him for the chance to read this out of print gem. We challenge you to find it, read it, and let it change the way you see the world, too.

An interesting, down to earth autobiography of a man with CP

William Rush is a journalist who was born with severe athetoid cerebral palsy and is unable to speak. This is an honest, down to earth account of his early life and struggle to attain his B.A. in journalism. It will be of great interest to anyone who cares about people with severe disabilities and should be required reading for professionals who work with this population.
