John George Brown: Drawings and Paintings (Annotated) (Drawings & Paintings)

John G. Brown (1831 - 1913) was a born British inhabitant and a United States artist. Brown's mother and father trained him to the profession of glass master an effort to discourage him from learning art. The boy studied nighttimes at the School of Design in Newcastle-on-Tyne at the same time as laboring as a glass worker there between 1849 and 1852 and evenings at the Trustees Academy in Edinburgh though working at the Holyrood Glass Works between 1852 and 1853. Following moving to New York City, John G. Brown studied with Thomas Cummings at the National Academy of Design where he was selected a National Academician in 1861. He was the Academy's vice-president from 1899 to 1904.Approximately 1855, his occupation was the worker of the Brooklyn Glass Company, and afterward Brown wedded the daughter of his boss. His father-in-law gives confidence of Brown's creative capabilities, helping the young man economically, allowing his practice painting permanent. In 1866, John G. Brown became one of the license associates of the Water-Color Society, of which he was leader from 1887 to 1904. He became famed for his paintings of boulevard rogues found on the avenues of New York City. His paintings are most excellent distinguished as British genre art become accustomed to American themes. Fundamentally fictional, his canvases are performed with accurate details, but reduced in color, and more well-liked with the wide public than with experts.
