Amazing!

This book is so inspiring. John.G.Lake's story is one that makes you realize the potential we have as born again believers. The testimonies are amazing, but even more inspiring is Lake's compassion and heart through it all. Highly recommend this book to increase your hunger for more of God.

John G. Lake: A Man Without Compromise

This book is an excellent introduction to Lake, with insights into his life, ways, and some of the miracles he experienced in his life and ministry. Lake was a missionary to Africa around 1908 - 1912, then established churches and healing homes and pastored, in the US, until his death in 1935. It was said of Lake (as of Wiggelsworth also) that when he preached he inspired faith in people - I certainly found that his sermons were on a far higher plane than what I had experienced before, and they lifted me personally to higher levels in my own thinking and walk. Great Resource... Not a Typical Biography

This book is a quick read. It's about 160 pages and it's categorized into nice bite-sized portions. This look at Lake's life and ministry kind of reminds me of the Gospel of Mark. You get the basics of the story- parts and pieces come one after another and it doesn't always flow real well. But it's a fast and exciting read! For example, I was hoping to learn much more about Lake's early life but Reidt only devotes about 5 pages to it. Also, the work is not organized chronologically but according to topic. This approach does offer unique benefits to studying Lake but, at the same time, it might be costly as far as the flow of the book goes. The organization did seem a bit awkward to me. My impression of this work is that it is full of random details and stories that don't necessarily flow well together but are fascinating and powerful in their own right. I don't see this book as a legitimate biography. It's more like a highlight film mixed with fascinating insights into his personal life. For example, I learned that Lake drank coffee (at least once it's mentioned), was quite funny and appreciated good humor, liked symphonic and opera music, owned many records, preached for G. Campbell Morgan in his church, and many other interesting things like that. Overall it's a great, unique work. I highly recommend it for anybody hungry for more of the living God. You get a glimpse into the life of a kingdom person who lived ahead of his time and tasted of the powers of the age to come. It is highly provoking.

Behind The Scenes With A Man of God

My name is Dr. Curry R. Blake. I am the General Overseer of Dr. John G. Lake's International Apostolic Council. Rev. Wilford Reidt, the author of this book was a dear friend of mine. The material in the book is not the usual info rehashed into a new form. Wilford wanted to try to reveal some of what Dr. Lake was like and what it was like to see behind the scenes of this ministry. Many heretofore unpublished stories are revealed, as well as some personal observations. There was perhaps no better person to write a book such as this, as Wilford was also married to Lake's daughter, Gertrude. When you complete this book, you will not only know more about Dr. Lake, but you will also feel as though you know him, and you will gain valuable insight into what it takes to carry the healing anointing as this man did. healingrooms@minister.com
