Book Overview
A lively comic novel of independence, romance, and reinvention by P. G. Wodehouse. Jill the Reckless follows Jill Mariner, a spirited young woman who refuses to accept the limitations imposed by society and circumstance, choosing instead to shape her own path.
After a sudden change in fortune, Jill leaves England for New York, where she pursues a life on her own terms. Along the way she encounters a cast of eccentric characters, romantic entanglements, and social complications, all rendered with Wodehouse's characteristic wit and lightness of touch. The novel balances humor with moments of emotional sincerity, offering a portrait of resilience and self-determination.
Though best known for his Jeeves and Wooster stories, Wodehouse here turns to a longer romantic comedy, blending transatlantic settings with his trademark comedic timing and dialogue. Jill the Reckless remains a charming example of early twentieth-century comic fiction, combining romance, social observation, and humor in equal measure.
This edition presents the text in a clear, readable format, preserving the original work for modern readers and students of classic comic literature.
