Pure Gena Showalter!

Another book that I put off reading because I knew it would be great! And it was!!! I love Gena Showalter! This story revolves around a familiar male lead. He's the brother of the lead female from The Stone Prince, Katie James. His name is Grayson James aka Gray. He's been sent to Atlantis to find the Jewel of Dunamis which the humans automatically assumed was an actual gemstone. Gray is found to be stuck in the jungle of Atlantis fighting a demon for his life. All of a sudden he hears the voice of a women who is giving him helpful hints of what to do. She bargins with him that she'll help him find the Jewel if he saves her and helps her find information about her father. What he doesn't know if that SHE is the Jewel of Dunamis. They go on an amazing little trek through Atlantis overcoming all sorts of obstacles. All the while building an amazing relationship. Pure Gena Showalter signature novel. This truely was an amazing book! 10/10!!!!!

Very Enjoyable Fantasy Romance

I really had no expectations going in as this was my first exposure to Gena Showalter's writing...I found the main characters engaging and thouroughly charming in their exagerated humanity. Every foible rang true as they stumbled through their relationship often against their wills. Atlantis became a location I might enjoy visiting if only to see how the multitudes of mythical creatures both dark and light interact on many levels. I found it to be a stimulating and enjoyable read from cover to cover!

If you like sexy paranormal stories with a dash of mythology, then Gena Showalter will always be your girl. With JEWEL OF ATLANTIS, she's taken all the things that readers love-vampires, demons, nymphs, sacred tomes, obscure jewels, and queens of evil-and turned it into a love story that transcends the bonds of time. Grayson James might be human, but he's also a member of the super-secret Otherworld Bureau of Investigation-and he's just been ordered to travel to Atlantis and find the elusive Jewel of Dunamis, which the recently discovered ancient scroll Ra Dracus talks about. Said to be able to overcome any enemy by foretelling the future and acting as a sort of lie-detector test to determine whether someone's lying or telling the truth, the OBI doesn't want the Jewel falling into the wrong hands. So Gray has been ordered to rescue the Jewel and bring it back, or to destroy it. Amazing, Amazing, Amazing

This book blew me away. I'd come to expect great story telling with Ms.Showalter, owing both The Stone Prince and The Pleasure Slave and also The Heart of the Dragon. Lovable characters, exciting places, fun scenarios, are what you get everytime, but with Jewel of Atlantis Ms.Showalter really out does herself. I was enthralled. In My opinion THE BACK OF THE BOOK DOES NOT DO IT JUSTICE, it's a much more complicated story line. Jewel is a darling character who you come to care for, Gray is the perfect blend of Macho and Amusing. He's not too alpha in that it turns you off, he's just enough, and able to tease. I HOPE SHE STICKS WITH ATLANTIS FOR A FEW MORE BOOKS, I'D BUY THEM ALL.

One of the best paranormal romances I've read in a long time!

Gena Showalter is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I adored Heart of the Dragon, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Jewel of Atlantis. Gray was my idea of the ultimate alpha hero. Strong, determined, and very very sexy. The way he would joke and flirt with Jewel made my toes curl. And Jewel was a great heroine. Smart, ethical, and determined to have Gray! I like that in a woman!!! Overall, the best read I've had so far in 2006!!!
