Jesus In Context

Bys: Katz, Doron and Edwards, Paul

Son of God. Heretic. Prophet. Firebrand. Teacher. King. Lawgiver. Liberator. Lawless One. Fulfiller of the Law. Judge. Revolutionary. Conformist. Wise Man. Tough. Tender. Kind. Strong. Welcoming. Exclusionary.

Only one quality about Jesus of Nazareth hides in plain sight, throughout Scripture, reinforced by prophecy, overlooked and under-appreciated for nearly 1,700 years, and has the power to change how we think about him - his Jewishness.

In Jesus In Context, authors Doron Katz and Paul Edwards restore the culture, context, and background of First Century Israel to the Son of God. They weave together the mysticism, scholarship, and subtlety of Scripture through a rabbinic lens ... with stories of redemption from ignorance, false doctrines, and cultural blindness for two men who set their hearts on following the Son of God.

Despite their earnestness, modern believers are susceptible to retroject modern biases onto Jesus. The devil is in the details ... but so is the God of Israel.

Viewed through his authentic time, place, and history, the Jewish Messiah becomes accessible, relatable, and practical. Jesus reemerges as a lightning rod of reality and eternity - the central figure of an eternal story that respects differences in time, culture, adult intelligence, and common sense.
