Jeff Gordon: Racing Back to the Front--My Memoir

As a huge Jeff Gordon fan I couldn't wait to get my hands on his book and it did not disappoint. It makes an easy and entertaining read and I found I couldn't put it down. Even if you've followed Jeff like I have for years, the book offers a little more of his personal insight to different situations and what he was really feeling. Not what the media wanted us to think. He touches upon all types of different issues thru-out different stages of his racing career. For any racing fan would enjoy this book, for the Jeff Gordon fan this is a must read !

Awesome book, must have for any #24 fan!

Having been a fan of Jeff Gordon's for 10 years now, I couldn't wait for this book. I finally bought it and was NOT disappointed. It was harder to put down than my favorite mystery writers. I finished it easily in two days and have even convinced my Dad to read it. There are a lot of answers in this book, and alot of personal information as well. Jeff is one of the best drivers of all time, and to read his history was just incredible.

Wonderboy grows up

As a longtime NASCAR fan, I often wondered how Jeff Gordon found his way into the seat of the 24 car and how it felt once he got there. We all knew the basic details, but the specifics were lacking. In his memoir, Gordon fills in the blanks for us, offering interesting insights into how it all came together. More importantly, he offers his perspective on the team, and how decisions are made week to week and how he and the team react to events on the track. When you watch a race, and JG goes from 2nd to 8th at lap 35, you sit there wondering "what happened?" "What are they thinking?" Having read this book, I now have an idea. If I have any criticism for the book, it's that many NASCAR concepts are explained as though he's speaking to a NASCAR novice. While I understand that many people are new to the sport, the majority of the purchasers of this book are bound to be Gordon fans, who know what a "catch can" is. We really didn't need those details spelled out with such "See Jack run" simplicity. That critique notwithstanding, however, the book is a good read. I feel like I know him better now, which should make future NASCAR viewing even more interesting. He really has grown from a naive prodigy into a seasoned champion and leader.
