I was taking a Cree language instructor course, and for an assignment, we were to find a children's book and translate to Cree. I chose Jack and Jill. It was short, and it was one of my favorite nursery rhymes as a child. The real author of Jack and Jill was never recorded; it was first written in the 1800s. Then it appeared in a reprint of John Newberry's Mother Goose's Melody. Most of the nursery rhymes were passed down verbally through generations and eventually written. The morale of this book is to please be careful in whatever you are doing; otherwise, you will be caught in troubles. If your friend is in trouble, you should help your friend in any way. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
