I did not walk into my first preschool classroom knowing what I was doing.

During my first few weeks, I cried in the back of the classroom and tried to figure out how I was going to survive the rest of the shift.

Over the years, the children taught me what my training had not. They taught me that behavior is often saying something, even when a child cannot. They taught me that an activity can go completely off course without going wrong. And they taught me that sometimes the moment I almost miss is the one that matters most.
