Lucy is forty-two when it hits: the stunning realization that her life went off-track years before and never regained its footing. She hardly noticed at the time, too busy raising three kids and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a great read...beautifully written tackling what so many women go through trying to keep balance between strong sense of selves, and the selfless demands of family life and motherhood. Many times I sighed as Lindy put eloquently into words what I have felt, and many times I laughed along with Lucy as she remembered her past. Highly recommended.

Lindy Hughes' novel It Never Stays in Vegas is so engaging and easy to read that you are unaware of the depth and honesty of the sentiments contained until the last few pages. Hughes has built a strong and believable character in Lucy. The wicked sense of humour that Lucy displays is exhibited on virtually every page. She is insightful but sometimes, like most real people, oblivious about their place in the world and how they are going to find comfort in their own skin. What I especially like about this character is that she does not whinge or engage in self-pity. Her attempts to find out who she is as a person are hysterical not pathetic. This is a wonderful first novel and I look forward to Lucy's escapades on the Camino!

When this little black book arrived 12 days earlier than anticipated it was met with great excitement. Knowing the Author I sat down and was gripped from page one. The book is cleverly written moving from present to past and city to city. I read the book in one go. I could not put it down. The parallels to my life, travels, experiences and emotions made it feel like it had been written for me. Lindy has managed to put her midlife crisis into perspective and has done it for so many of us...... A light, funny and serious read which I enjoyed immensely.
