What a Story!

Cassandra Mosley knew what she wanted out of life. She loved her career as chef and co-owner of a Bed & Breakfast in her hometown of Oakland, CA. She also knew that she wanted to be the wife of Gordan Kramer. She wanted to share her life and bear his children. Gordan loved Cassy (as she is called throughout the book), but he didn't want to get married again. His first marriage ended in disaster. When one day Cassy walks out on him and doesn't turn back, he crumbles.We are first introduced to Gordan and met Cassandra in the anthology Mama's Pearl written in 1996. Island Magic is Cassandra's story. This book was interesting. I was wondering how could a man love a woman as much as Gordan seemed to love Cassandra and not want to marry her. Sometimes it takes uncontrollable circumstances to bring people together. It was suggested to me by a very informative and credible African-American Book reviewer to read Mama's Pearl from the Mother's Love Anthology first. I am glad I took her advice. If you haven't read Mama's Pearl, please do. You will get to know Cassandra's personality then and understand it now.Great job Ms. Ford!

When is love enough?

This was my first book by the author and I must say I was happy to read it. The story line is not something you have never heard about or experienced. Cassy and Gordan have been an item for over four years. She is ready for commitment but he after having a terrible first marriage does not want to take that route again.The one thing that keeps you into the book it that they truly love one another and can't go a day without thinking of all the love they shared.After a break up and a near tragedy they try and work things out. Will they get married or just live together? You have to read it for yourself, you will not be dissappointed and will love this book.

This was a Great Story

Island Magic is a bitter sweet story of life. The main characters struggled with different views on marriage. After a few years of being together and knowing they are fated, one wanted to marry and start a family and one wanted nothing to do with marraige, but neither wanted to let go. Both were strong willed and committed to what they wanted. So how do you solve this problem. You must read this book to see what you would do in this situation. Or answer the question, would you compormise? I think this is one of Ms Ford's BEST efforts, a must read.
