Onyinye's Choice
I had lived a gawky life, feeling like an eaglet whose egg mistakenly rolled into and cracked among the eggs of a hen. Now clucking with her chicks, I felt out of place, unfit among the lively bunch. Above me were birds I thought I could soar higher up in the sky than if I spread my wings and glided like them. A few of them resembled me and soared as I should. Failing and humbled in every way possible among the winged species that tread on the earth, it was time I tried my wings on the higher realm that my heart sought more than breath. Try, I must, even if it kills me. Death was better than an unlived life, unspread wings.
