Book Overview

This Third Edition of Craig Mertler's practical text helps readers every step of the way as they plan and execute their first educational research project. Offering balanced coverage of qualitative and quantitative methods, an emphasis on ethics, and a wealth of new examples and concrete applications, the new edition continues to use conversational, nontechnical language to help students clearly understand and apply research concepts, principles, procedures, and terminology. Expanded coverage of foundations of research, an increased focus on integrating qualitative and quantitative research, and updated coverage of research questions and the tools of qualitative research bring the book thoroughly up-to-date, while streamlined coverage of statistics shows students how to do quantitative analysis in a straightforward way.

Great Book

Anyone who is doing reports or working on a thesis, this book is a great tool to have. I am currently working on my masters and having this book has given me great insight on literature writtings. I will be able to use it as a guide and teaching tool for my kids.

Text Overview

While the text is required for a course I am taking in Educational Research, I would say the text is a well organized, easy-to-read how-to book that covers the nuances of conducting educational research.

An excellent, clearly-written book

I think this book is a gem! It's clearly written in a step-by-step way that is extremely helpful in this course. I really appreciate the sample research proposals and the examples. This book helped me prepare for my own research project.

An excellent text

I have used this book for three years to instruct individuals in a masters degree program. The book is clear, easy to read, and easy to understand - quite a feat for a book about research and statistics! Most educators are intimidated by texts on educational research, but this book is readable and makes sense!
