Upon completion of his degree programs (very high honors) on a Department of State Thomas Jefferson fellowship, Rudolf was puzzled by the increasing devastation wrecked on both human lives and on national economies around the world by antibiotic resistance (also known as 'drug resistance'). He then set out to research the why and how of this phenomenon, with the goal of finding the solution to this century-old threat.
