Another great read

Darl found Claire very early on in the book and there was no discussion about them belonging together. Also they were separated a good deal of the book, so I suppose to call this book a romance would not be accurate. Actually, most of the book was about the goings on on Upsilia, all the Cygirians to get together and the struggle of Darl and Claire to find each other again as well. They had only a few scenes together and I found this a bit disappointing, as far as the romance factor was concerned. My favourite couple Stephanie and Porter were there again for quite a large part of the book, and they bickered to a lesser degree this time. I think that slowly they are coming to terms with each other. How ironic that the only couple that might enjoy a break from each other (well, they wouldn't, but Porter certainly gets on Stephanie's nerves sometimes) never seems to get separated. I missed Edan throughout the book. He only arrived at the end of the book and met Claire for the first time. I wonder what it is about him that has everybody in awe. We get hints of what he can do and how extraordinary he is, but so far - due to his lack of presence - we haven't seen much of his abilities. I certainly hope that Jessica has something in store for us here. Also the search for his twin has me puzzled. EVERYBODY seems to have heard of him, and knows what he can do or at least knows of his power that could be reversed by his twin. So, why on earth doesn't that girl show up and say, "Hey, here I am, I can make myself younger, I'm the yin to your yang." Where is she, for Christ's sake? Apart from all the personal circumstances, which also play a big part in the overall plot, the story developed further, which was good to see. More and more people found their way to their fellow Cygirians and finally an ally was found to help them fight the Neballats (even though that ally might not even be needed, the future will show). So, now, we'll have to wait until later on in the year to finally get the conclusion of the story. It's going to be a long wait.

I'm totally Addicted!

Jessica Barksdale Inclán is a new author to me and I was pretty glad when she got in touch with me about being interviewed and having her latest Second Romance series books reviewed by me. I'm a bit late in posting this review but it's better late than never and I really enjoyed reading the first book Being with Him so much and this series got really good with the second book Intimate Beings. This is a paranormal romance that I didn't at first really understand completely in the being of the first novel but I really got into towards the end and then the beginning of the second novel. So from my review of the first novel you can say that I was very anxious to read more about Milla, Garrick and her brother Eden and her sister Sophia who she only just found out she had. I was glad that she found her brother but now they had to find their sister Sophia who could be anywhere on Earth. The heroine of this book is Claire Edwards but she's also known as Sophia when she was a young child on the other planet. She has the ability to go anywhere on Earth as long as she knows what the place looks like before she thinks about going there and is there. She has never told anyone about her special ability but her problem is that she can get to any place she wants but she can't get back home the same way she has to find another way. On top of that she can't bring anything with her except herself and the clothes on her back so that means no money either. Then an intensely attractive man who suddenly materializes in her car one day is any indication, Claire's not the only one with a special ability. Ever since Darl James learned of his true origins, he has been searching for his partner and life mate, the one whose gift will complement and complete his own. Darl is Claire's other half so that means that he can be anywhere in the world but if he thinks of home he's there in an instant. Now that he's found Claire, he vows to never lose her again, or their soul-searing, sensual connection, but keeping her safe won't be easy when they've been marked for destruction by an evil, power-hungry race. A fierce battle is brewing, one that will test Claire and Darl's new bond to the limit, and decide the future of all their kind. So if you thought that what Milla and Garrick faced in the first book was very hard and heartbreaking for them Claire and Darl have a more intense time of this new life they have. Towards the end it seemed like things might have calmed down a bit for Milla, Garrick, Claire, Darl and Eden but I know that with the last book in the series the two books were just the beginning of a very large and epic battle to come. By the time I finished reading this novel I was so sad that there was no title or release date for the third and last novel in Jessica Barksdale Inclán's terrific Second Romance series. I did love the excerpt of the novel at the end of the book and it gave me hope because it said it will be release in Fall 2009 which isn't that far away.

Intimate Beings

Claire never felt as if she fit in with the world around her, and lately those feeling are much more overwhelming than normal. Her loneliness was bordering on depression. To add to her out of place feeling is her secret ability to transport herself to anyplace that comes to mind. Believing her life would always be empty, imagine her surprise when a man appears out of nowhere and quickly becomes an important part of her life. Just like Claire, Darl James has mind travel ability and just like Claire his life was empty. But Darl knew there was someone special out there for him and he was determined to find her. Together Claire and Darl compliment each other with their mind travel abilities. Where Claire's ability was limited to her being able to travel to places, Darl's ability was limited to being able to travel back home from where ever he was. Together their abilities are stronger and it also makes their lives more exciting, but not all of their newly found excitement is positive. Claire and Darl find their lives in danger from those who want to exploit their gifts and some who want to silence them. Intimate Beings, the second book in Jessica Inclan's Second Romance series, is just as unique and intriguing as the first book of this series. Ms. Inclan's imagination is great and I like how again the hero and heroine are two peas in a pod who need each other to be whole. It was obvious that Darl and Claire belonged together, but I would have liked them to have more time to really get to know each other. Even though I felt everything moved at a very quick and high intense pace throughout the story, it was still a very entertaining read. I enjoyed Intimate Beings; it was a satisfying addition to the Second Romance series. Ley Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

fun science fiction romance

San Francisco kindergarten teacher Claire Edwards has always felt like the outsider, but lately that depressing feeling has been overwhelming. Her job is boring her and the dates she does have are even more tedious. Her only fun is renting films from Netflix. However, the dreams are what scare her; as how many adults sleep with a spaceship in their head. Darl James has felt the same way about his life as has Claire. However, he knows why as he has learned they are not of this earth. Darl seeks his soulmate Claire because together their special skills enhanced by love make them a formidable force. Claire can think herself to any place while Darl can think himself home from anyplace. When they meet, each feels whole for the first time and soon seek other hidden aliens, but instead find themselves trapped in a galaxy war as a bellicose race that destroyed their home planet focuses on earth. This is a fun science fiction romance that ironically even with the potential destruction of the earth and the already annihilation of other planets and species is a lighthearted romp. The story line is faster than a speeding space ship, but never goes deep into any of the alien races. Still Jessica Inclan provides an engaging try to save the world by alien residents (without green cards) especially the heroine who leaves behind the crayon drawings of kindergarten artists.
