Very informative book from a veteran health educator, could use better editing

Dr. Leonard Coldwell dedicated his life beginning in his youth to understanding the processes of life and health, studying a variety of natural healing methods and helping people learn to access their innate healing capability. In this book Coldwell begins by outlining how corrupt modern allopathic medicine is - and how harmful it is to our health. Coldwell is very knowledgeable about this subject, though the book is poorly edited and there is a lack of referencing for the various statistics and quotes he puts in this manuscript. In addition to some grammatical errors you can also find some factual errors, while overall the information is on target. Coldwell points out how our health depends on our consciousness and our lifestyle. Stress is the primary cause of illness, and we create our own stress with our thoughts and lifestyle, often by not being true to ourselves and our own uniqueness. There has been mountains of empirical and clinical evidence for the essential role of the psyche in both illness and in healing, yet mainstream medicine ignores this for the most part and provides treatments that are toxic and disruptive to the body. Coldwell is particularly critical of practices like chemotherapy and vaccinations. This book is a wake-up call to let us know that we can heal anything - and that healing comes from our own energy, nature, and innate intelligence, not from man-made chemicals. Coldwell advocates that we all take responsibility for our health and stop being led like sheep by a profit-driven industry that depends on our sustained ill health. Dr. Coldwell is a brave and wise healing advocate, the physician consulted by best-selling "natural cures" writer Kevin Trudeau. His understanding of health promotes actual healing and refutes much of what physicians are usually taught. Some readers may feel he goes too far in criticizing conventional medicine, such as by saying integration of allopathic with natural medicine is foolish since they are contradictory systems except in the area of emergency medicine. He has a valid point there, though those with experience in both approaches could be helpful in weaning someone off of drugs and into natural approaches. In people with severely damaged organs and tissues the use of some types of drugs may be needed to replace body function until the body has recovered, so I see that as another situation where what he refers to as integrative medicine would be valuable. There are cases where doing an integrative approach of allopathic drugs mixed with natural approaches merely slows or lessens the benefit of a thorough natural approach, so I see where Coldwell's point comes from. Coldwell covers a lot of topics in this book and shares information that many other natural healing advocates have publicized, integrating this with his own story of discovering this healing wisdom. One of the best things about this book is its message that we can and must heal ourselves rather than expecting t

Get healthy, not cancer. Say no to drugs.

This is a great book. Every MD, ACS member, FDA member, media person, congressmen, and senators should be required to read this book. Everyone else should want to read this book. I highly recommend it. There should be more doctors like Dr. Coldwell. It should be common sense that all the diseases you here about on TV or in the paper are not from the lack of some drug they are advertising. Remember, drugs don't cure anything, they just mask the symptoms.

Most informative book!

Finally, someone has revealed truth that can help us understand how to deal with illness and make the best decisions with THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PATIENT, MEANING SOMETIMES OURSELVES.

Empowering book that will change my life.

Since I discovered Dr. Coldwell's stress reduction CDs several years ago and felt the wonderful benefit in my life, I have always wished I could learn more from him. I was so excited to see his book and bought it immediately. His book is so empowering since he teaches what causes disease and that we have the power to heal ourselves--and it's not through our doctors or prescriptions. As a RN for over 30 yrs, I see what the medical field does to help alleviate the symptoms of disease, (and often makes things worse) but it does nothing to cure or prevent disease or strive to help people be healthy. His book shows me what I can do to heal myself. I learned so much about the effects of stress on my body and what I can do to be healthy and happy in my life and use my instincts! Very valuable book that will change my life for the better.
