Writing this narrative helped me process the overwhelming feelings of stress, fear, and disillusionment I felt during a recent mental health crisis. In the midst of changing anti-depressants, my symptoms of anxiety and panic were out of control, leaving me feeling the heavy burden of raw emotion. The utter inability of the mental health system to meet my desperate need echoes across the nation. People across America are facing a brick wall when trying to get help. An unscalable wall wrought with the perils of health insurance, a provider crunch, and inadequate, unequal opportunity for treatment.
