The introduction of digital technologies in industry has had a significant impact on the design and manufacture of electrical equipment. This development has been influenced by standards from the computer and automotive industries. The exchange of digital information has necessitated the use of communication networks, which in turn has led to the use of prefabricated connectors and connections. An industrial network serves the same purpose as a traditional network, i.e. the transmission of information between several machines. However, unlike traditional networks, which generally involve computers, industrial networks enable communication between different types of devices such as computers, PLCs, sensors, actuators and controllers.
