Classic cookbook

I really love this book, the recipes I have tried have worked without any need to change anything, and have tasted great and been true to the region they're supposed to come from - we often forget how regional Indian cooking is. The section on ingredients and spices with their Indian and western names is useful too.

if you want to make good indian food...

This is a great book - includes definitions of basic indian cooking ingredients and some dos and don'ts for substitutions. I actually had borrow it from a friend and then bought my own copy because I liked it SO much.
