Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." In keeping with the above, God prepared beforehand that good and fruitful works would take place during His appointed season in Oxford city-centre, and accordingly He also called and anointed those of His people who would walk in those works. He ordained the good works to take place at a table in a public pedestrianised street, a marketplace teeming with people from all walks of life and from all parts of the world, where countless lives criss-cross, not just with one another but also with God their Creator, Sustainer and Judge. We at the table are there to be conspicuous and to bring Him to the attention of those many passers-by. In doing this we deflect their attention from their pre-arranged intentions and offer them an unexpected opportunity to consider their need for the forgiveness and bright hope for the future that exist in Jesus Christ. I am one of those who were called by Almighty God to be a partaker in those works, which are now in their twentieth year. I offer this book in the hope that it will be interesting and instructive.
