The basis of this story was woven from comments passed at family gatherings, sometimes just a suggestion of having seen strange lights down by the river or of having seen strange lights like searchlights playing on clouds. None of these make the story true but reports of strange phenomena are clouded by time and others by embellishment. The names of people in my story are fictitious as there was little point in the curious attempting to contact them now. Some are deceased and two refuse to discuss it. One central character still alive, now denies that it happened. For myself, I have a strong curiosity about it, but there were so many diverse accounts and peculiarities' that I cannot vouch for any of the story being true. Robin Gorton Author
