An enjoyable read

If you are a fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, you will most certainly love this book. It has a feisty heroine, a wounded but repairable hero, a handful of cute kids, and a small town of eccentric characters. And just when you think the problems will overwhelm, they melt away like snow in the sun. A light, fun read, with one of the few laugh-out-loud birth scenes I have ever read.

Sweet

What a sweet story. I particularly liked Maya. I found her to be very personable and someone I could count on. Axell could have been worked on a little more, but on the whole, an enjoyable read for a rainy sunday afternoon.

Impossible Dreams is Fabulous!

Patricia Rice has outdone herself with IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS. I absolutely adored Maya Assylum and Axell Holm, who are total opposites, yet somehow made for each other. These are two likeable people who find each other, and love, in the most unusual circumstances. Do yourself a favor and buy this book. You won't be sorry. I loved it!

mmmm. mmmm good

In Wadeville, North Carolina, Maya Alyssum worries about the future for herself, her incarcerated sister, and her young nephew. Though pregnant and single, she runs her sibling's store and opens up a school, "Impossible Dream" that the mayor wants to shut. One of her students is troubled eight-year old Constance whose mother is dead. Her father, council member Axell Holm, struggles to reach her.Like Maya, Axell has many pressures to deal with as well. His bar and restaurant is under attack by the mayor and his mother-in-law demands he give Constance to her. Desperate for help and attracted to Maya, he persuades her to join forces through a marriage of convenience to stop those who want to cause them pain. As they struggle with the external forces trying to destroy them, Maya and Axell begin to fall in love, feelings that their charges fully support.IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS is an entertaining contemporary romance. Though the story line requires a bit of a stretch, the enjoyable plot remains fun to read. The lead characters are a warm duo and their two-preadolescent charges provide much heart-wrenching moments. The remaining support cast adds a small town regional flavor to the delightful mix. Patricia Rice provides her audience with a warm, delightful tale.Harriet Klausner

A wonderful read!

This was just a delightful book, with gentle, vague, funky Maya bringing uptight businessman Axell to his knees. The story begins with her struggling to maintain the special school that is her dream, run the New Age shop of her sister, Cleo, who is in jail, and take care of her sister's little boy. Ordinarily, she and Axell would have nothing in common--except that he has a distressed little girl who responds to Maya's warmth and understanding. There are many layers and delightful characters, with Ms. Rice combining intelligence and a light touch in a way reminiscent of Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This is a first rate choice for contemporary romance readers.
