The kind and devoted Christian family Rose grew up in was a defining aspect of her life. John and Emily, Rose's parents, were ardent followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ, and they reared Rose in a home that placed a strong emphasis on spirituality and faith. They regularly went to church as a family and actively took part in a variety of church activities. The principles of compassion, honesty, and integrity were taught to Rose by her parents during her early years, which are briefly described in this chapter. John and Emily emphasized the value of kindness and respect for others, instructing Rose to love her neighbors as she loves herself. The Bible and the parables of Jesus' teachings were top priorities for Rose's parents to impart to her. Stories spoken at bedtime frequently dealt with faith, miracles, and the value of prayer. Because of her fascination with these tales, Rose developed a strong respect for God and a desire to live by His instructions as she grew up. In their home, family prayer time was a treasured custom. They would all come together every night, clasp hands, and pray together in thanksgiving and supplication. These times fostered a feeling of cohesion and kinship with God. Rose's parents pushed her to take part in church activities and youth clubs as she grew older. She often attended Sunday school, where she learned about the teachings of Christianity and the life of Jesus. Through these encounters, Rose built a solid foundation for her religion and formed deep bonds with other Christians. Beyond their religious activities, John and Emily lived out Christian principles. They actively engaged in community work, displayed forgiveness and humility, and were kind to their neighbors. Their deeds set a strong example for Rose and emphasized the value of applying one's beliefs in real life. As Rose got the letter of admission to the esteemed university she had always wanted to attend, her heart swelled with a mixture of pleasure and trepidation. She felt a thrill of excitement and a sense of limitless potential as she considered beginning this new chapter of her life. Rose was overpowered by the buzzing energy present when she first stepped foot on campus. Students from a variety of backgrounds populated the expansive grounds, all on their own intellectual and personal growth journeys. Rose couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging as she took in the energetic environment and realized that this place had the power to influence her future. Rose engaged herself more and more in the college experience as the days went by. She gladly participated in orientation classes, made friends with her roommates, and eagerly visited the campus as she was awestruck by the cutting-edge facilities and the wealth of academic resources available to her. Rose was eager to get started in her chosen subject of study because the opportunities appeared limitless. As courses got underway, Rose discovered that she was surrounded by enthusiastic instructors and academically curious students. She was challenged by the thought-provoking talks to learn more and to reconsider her assumptions. She enthusiastically absorbed the information given to her since she was curious and wanted to do well in school. Rose's new surroundings offered a wealth of chances for personal development and self-discovery outside of the classroom. Each offering a special way to explore and interact, student groups and organizations drew attention.
