Great read, action-oriented paranormal romance. The book has page turning action, interesting characters, a complex background and lots of sexual tension. The heroine is drawn into a world where all the 'mythological' pantheons exist side-by-side. That world exists in a 'Cold War' state where subtle tries for power constantly ripple below the relatively peaceful surface. The heroine is caught in one of those ripples... The hero is sent to kill her to protect the balance of power. He becomes suspicious that someone has muddied the situation and decides to keep her alive. My favorite part? Heroine: Isn't there some kind of guidelines about all this I could read? Hero: Sure, everything from fairy tales to grimoires. Heroine: Isn't there like an abridged edition? Hero: The gods like to keep things sketchy... There's a directly connected sequel: Immortal Illusions.
