A perfect gift for young children

This beautifully illustrated book follows the adventures of two children on imaginary journeys to exotic places such as the rainforest, the ocean, the polar regions, the African savannah, etc. where they encounter the animals that live there. They even take a trip back in time, when dinosaurs & other prehistoric creatures inhabited the earth. I feel that every time we pick up this book, my children (aged 2 & 3) and I go on a new & exciting adventure. They have learned so much about natural history & geography from our discussions about the animals & places featured. This is all inspired by their own curiosity & it never feels like I'm trying to 'teach' them. We were given our copy of 'Imagine' by a friend & now regularly buy it as a birthday gift for other children.

What a wonderful book

This is one of my daughter's favourite books of all time. It has so much depth to it with beautiful text and illustrations.

Want to take a trip?

An excursion of the mind is the best journey for a child. Several llustrations are presented of children engaged in imaginary travels around the world and the animals they "see". After each pretend scenario, the following 2 pages are beautifully detailed drawings of the habitats and animals that really live in that environment. "Imagine if we were deep in the jungle..." This is a wonderfully stimulating picture book to excite the mind and arouse the imagination. It is a great introduction to Australia, the ocean, the arctic and other places where many animals live including dinosaurs. Children can mentally explore the world and find home to be a great place to imagine also.

To pore over

One to pore over - adult and child, or children together. As well as utilising the concept of chilhood imagination, it is one of the well-loved genre of searching for animals.The linking pieces are beautifully written - poetic. These are followed by double-page spreads of a variety of environments where the reader is invited to search for the creatures. At the end black and white illustrations provide a key to each picture.Recommended highly.

A thought-provoking,exploratory bookof creatures in habitats

This book is a must for primary classrooms. Children will pick up this book over and over again. Two children visit several habitats around the world and explore the animals that live there. Example: prehistoric times, ocean, Alaska, jungle, etc. The pictures are realistic, promote verbal interaction, animal identification, and they fill the entire page. The border of the page lists every animal in the picture for readers. In the back you will find a blackline of every page depicting the name of each animal too. This book will be handled over and over again. Buy two!
