Imagine: Understanding the Paradox of Our Perception

IMAGINE asserts that, to a great extent, our individual experiences have shaped the structure by which we apply the sum total of our knowledge; yet this is often nullified by an onslaught of ingrained misunderstandings we reference daily. Combine that with the education initiated by our family, friends, school, place of worship, and the workplace, and soon we begin to believe we have no voice of our own. IMAGINE stands as a reminder that every single one of us has developed a means of communication, primarily constructed by what we value, or hope to gain, and still, there is one being we have yet to begin a sincere and meaningful dialogue with - ourselves. The key message found within the pages of IMAGINE expresses the idea that by becoming willing participants, instead of hesitant observers, we will discover the opportunity to become more than we have permitted ourselves to be, and less of whom we thought we were. Still, every so often even the best of us forgets. In the end, IMAGINE is a friendly reminder that there are those moments that exist, if for no other reason, which bring about our own well-being. When we do this for ourselves, and in the spirit of honesty, not only do we significantly change our lives, but we also touch the lives of everyone else around us. Looking back, I can't imagine, pardon the pun, how my life would have turned out had I been staring at a tiny screen, without looking up to see what was right in front of me. A little boy, thoroughly enjoying his orange lollipop. For some unknown reason I stopped long enough to ask what I thought was a simple question.
"Tell me little one, how does that taste?"
He looked at me, with those big brown eyes, as though I had never experienced such satisfaction, and answered,
"Wet."
That wasn't what I expected. What I expected was akin to the usual, the ordinary, the so-called normal answer to what I thought was a simple inquiry. It's because of him, of that one moment in time, I had to author this book. From then on IMAGINE became the grand experiment, an expedition, and an invitation to escape what we all know as the BOX, otherwise known as Plato's Cave of unawareness.
