This book of short stories is a confession. It is also a compendium. It is a confession in the sense most of these stories lie on the ragged edge of what society deems acceptable (and a few that definitely cross that line), and a compendium in the sense that these are some of the salient stories, both the good and the bad... I have written about the "best" aspects of my life, and though have enjoyed recounting those tales, I simply feel a need to tell it all, not just the "good" stuff. Not all the stories of my antics in life are of me on a white horse saving princesses (I've never even been astride a horse, for God's sake), or helping old ladies across the street (but I have certainly helped more than one sweet old Babushka down the years). I am not perfect (far from it), and I have the detritus in my life to prove those ill-gotten decisions. But, and this is an important "but", those 'bad" stories of not-so-great actions are also important. They are also worthy of recognition and cognition, as they are what make us, well, us. I want to impart the imperfect, and acknowledge the equilibrium that imperfection brings to the natural order, and vice versa, and how the two are natural - necessary - reciprocals. I think this is us - flawed, unsure, sometimes arrogant - and yet somehow beautiful... This book is a journey to some of life's nether regions - please don't pull back, nether regions are also beautiful - a reflection of what our natural curiosity generates and creates. Adventure, mystique, love, loneliness, imprisonment, failure, success!, and ultimately the denouement called beyond middle-age. A reprise, through a soft lens, with forgiveness at the locus. Welcome to this book, and by the way, I'll Be Right Back!
