We get involved in so many things trying to make our life seem relevant. We adhere to things that others have adhered to because we see no benefit from not doing so.
Why challenge that which is accepted? We don't want anyone to breach our comfort zone, suggesting something is wrong. We have carefully structured our life and our ideas to make life not a burden.
We may have good days and bad days, but generally we don't expect major obstacles that we can't navigate around. But others are navigating also. And we often don't realize how vulnerable that all is. We have all built our own 'house of cards', and if that one card is removed, we know what will happen. We have built our ideas close to where others have. We see that others have that same card ...and we don't want to visualize everything collapsing in and around us.
So we loudly defend what has been built, hoping the vibrations from our own voice doesn't cause the collapse.
We don't want to think this entire time we've been barking up the wrong tree. And we certainly don't want any dog to think 'the leg that we stand on' is a tree.
