Excellent - God as you may not have thought of Him before

I was raised Roman Catholic and grew up with the view of a harsh God, just waiting for me to slip. From what I have heard, a lot of people of all denominations were raised with this stereotype. Clyde Lee Herring gives us a different perspective. The God he presents really does care about us - just as the Bible tells us.The premise was born when Herring wondered, "What would happen if someone were praying the Lord's Prayer (The "Our Father," for you Catholics.) by rote, and God answered? The result was a dialogue between God and the pray-er, bringing out the things hidden in his heart and establishing his contact with God as the prayer was originally supposed to do. It was an instant hit and was reprinted time and again. Pressed to do more, Herring went back to his typewriter and added more "comversations with God."The book deals with problems and situations that young people face, and is geared toward high school and early college age. I first read it in my late 20's, though, and it quickly became one of my favorite books. Through the years I have bought several for giving away.Herring followed it later with "When God and I Talk."Give this book a read. It will give you a fresh perspective on God's compassion.
