Reviews planning and designing architecture and implementing the data warehouse. Includes discussions on how and why to apply IBM tools. Offers tips, tricks, and workarounds to ensure maximum performance. Companion Web site includes technical notes, product updates, corrections, and links to relevant material and training.
This book introduces us into the IBM view on data warehousing. It gives the reader an architectural overview on data warehousing. Moreover, it gives ample insight into project management of a data warehouse project. Amongst the subjects, one gets an idea on the roles within a project and how long a data warehouse project might take. Fortunately, this book is NOT a sales leaflet; instead it gives a balanced overview. Often real life situations are sketched to stress a certain point. The authors clearly know how data warehousing is undertaken in real life. The authors also show the IBM toolset. As this set is recently renewed (after the writing of the book) this part is somewhat outdated.
Good book about IBM Tools
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 22 years ago
Good Book - This book explains data warehousing well from the perspective of using IBM tools to accomplish the task. A reviewer from Hoffman Estates, IL . says "Dilettante's Guide to Data Warehousing and Data Mining" Perhaps the person is talking about another book, and incorrectly describes this book thus incorrectly giving this book a low rating
