I Used to know this place is a photographic reflection on change, memory, and loss within Birmingham city centre.
These images revisit the parts of the city that once felt familiar but have since been rebuilt, abandoned, or erased. What remains are fragments cropped and close pieces of texture, light, and structure that hold traces of what used to be there.
This work isn't a documentary record. It's about the feeling of remembering a place that no longer exists in the same way. Each photograph is a small attempt to hold on to something fleeting a moment, a corner, or a sense of belonging that time has altered.
Through these images, I wanted to explore how cities, like memories, are constantly changing how even when the buildings are gone, the places still live on in how we remember them.
