A doting mother and her two beloved sons, one of whom she thinks is probably gay, go about their daily lives in this hilarious and heartwarming LGBTQIA+-friendly family comedy Despite belonging to a family of four, the Aoyama residence is typically home to three, with Dad away for work. Mom Tomoko and her two darling sons, Hiroki and Yuri, go about their everyday lives with little to disturb their gentle routines. But as Hiroki begins his first year of high school, Tomoko can't help but wonder if her eldest has fallen for another boy. Though Tomoko is content to cheer on her son from the sidelines and let him work things out for himself, Hiroki's slips of the tongue are hard to ignore With little talent for keeping his "secret," Hiroki might just die of embarrassment before all is said and done

A pleasantly light hearted slice of life manga to read if you are wanting something wholesome. This manga isn't anything ground breaking but unique in the way that the story is told from the mother's perspective instead of the person who is experiencing the coming of age part of their life. There are funny moments and the art style is adorable too! I'm not use to reading a bunch of short stories throughout the manga, so I was hoping for one long story. In the long run though this isn't a big issue.
Hiroki is adorable.

There really is no plot whatsoever, it's just typical, slice-of-life happenings at the Aoyama house. I really like how the story is told through Tomoko Aoyama's (the mom's) perspective, I find it refreshing that the story tells about the main character but not from his perspective. It feels more honest somehow.
At first I was worried it would get a little repetitive because these are short episodic chapters a lot like Komi Can’t Communicate and somewhere in the chapter Tomoko seemed to always say, "our gay son-" which got a bit annoying after a while, I mean, the kid has a name! But somewhere around chapter 11 or 12 that label seem to leave and Hiroki's name was used much more often which made the internal monolog feel more natural. And speaking of internal monolog, it's almost like the mom is talking to her husband or writing in a diary, or even talking directly to the reader, it's a neutral thing to me but I'm curious who she's talking to.
The art is simple and bold yet cute. Hiroki's overreactions are funny and sometimes a little over the top for comedic effect, but also semi accurate to how a teenager that doesn't lie well may act.
Overall a fun, wholesome, lighthearted read that I believe anyone who likes Komi Can’t Communicate would like too.
