I: A Supernatural Thriller

By Jeffrey Rittenhouse

He touched it with an oar. Then he was gone. No splash. No ripple. Nothing.

On a perfect July evening in Plymouth, Vermont, Donna Hamilton watched her husband row out to a strange white dome floating in the lake behind their home. Robert stood up in the boat he built with his father, reached out, and vanished. The boat vanished with him. So did the dome. The lake healed over like skin.

No one believes her. The divers find nothing. The sonar shows a lake bottom clean as a table. Then the police find Robert's blood in his truck, and the wife who watched the impossible becomes the only suspect. Her friends pull away. Both families turn against her. Four months after the lake took her husband, Donna is arrested for his murder.

Then, in the middle of her trial, on a snowy January morning, the courtroom doors open.

Robert walks in. Wearing the same clothes. Sunburned, in winter. He has no memory of the missing months, and he believes it is still the seventeenth of July.

And the thing in the lake is not finished with either of them.

An eerie, heart driven supernatural thriller about a marriage split by the impossible, a town that chose the comfortable lie, and a woman who would not trade the truth to save her own life.
