To fulfill Biblical prophecy, the scourge of humanity is about to be resurrected and released.

A greedy, amoral billionaire plans to unleash a genetically modified strain of smallpox for which he has the only effective antidote. It is scheduled for the anniversary of the 1993 massacre at Waco, Texas.

Bruno Rattenvanger, aka RatCatcher, leads the effort to implement the plot. Aiding him is Doctor BrightAngel, an Afrikaner and expert at weaponizing pathogens.

To avoid detection, RatCatcher connives to dupe Brother John, an apocalyptic televangelist, into taking blame for the approaching pandemic. Under the spell of the Jerusalem Syndrome, Brother John believes he has been chosen by the Archangel Michael to pour out the first bowl of the Third Woe as prophesied in the book of Revelation in the Bible.

Sister Magg, intelligent, attractive and ruthless, undertakes to block this deadly scheme. A former escort and drug addict, she is Brother John's confidant and protector. Joining her is Cheyenne "Jinx" Whyte, a member of Homeland Security's Emergency Search Team. Professional and level-headed, Jinx wants to prove she can handle dangerous fieldwork.

When five ampules of smallpox are smuggled into an antique shop in Manhattan, battlelines are drawn and the countdown begins. The hunt is on.
