Human Intelligence in the Age of AI

By Dr Abdul Faili Abdallah

Human Intelligence in the Age of AI: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence to Empower Workforce Development and Economic Growth explores how artificial intelligence can amplify rather than replace human intelligence and how this partnership can strengthen workforce development, organizational innovation, and inclusive economic growth. The book presents AI as a collaborative tool whose value depends on human creativity, ethical judgment, emotional intelligence, leadership, and purpose.

Across eleven chapters, the book examines the foundations and evolution of human and artificial intelligence; the global digital transformation landscape; Africa's AI potential and challenges; lessons from Asia, Europe, and North America; AI-enabled creativity and decision-making; education and learning systems; ethical governance and inclusive AI policy; inequality, disruption, and other risks; collaborative human-AI ecosystems; workforce development and economic growth strategies; and a vision for a resilient and inclusive future.

With a particular focus on Africa while drawing on global perspectives, the book argues that investment in education, digital infrastructure, lifelong learning, ethical governance, institutional capacity, and human-centered innovation can enable societies to capture AI's benefits while protecting dignity and expanding opportunity. It offers practical insights for leaders, policymakers, educators, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, organizations, and development practitioners seeking to navigate the age of AI responsibly and build a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future.
