Speed course on Premiere

Hey this book helped me out of a bind - big time. I had to get up and running on Premiere in only an hour. It walked me through the setups, etc. and got me going. This is not the end all book on the subject - but it did save my life. Sure the book could use more detail - but at the same time - this book is easy to use and very easy to understand. If you are new to the program - get it - and then later - if you are sticking with Premiere - get a more detail book.

Getting started with Digitial Video and Premier 6.0

I am new to the world of videography and have purchased the hardware and software to begin producing my own digital video. I consulted with several knowledgeable people and selected Adobe Premier as my video editing suite. One of my friends suggested that "How to Use Adobe Premier" by Douglas Dixon would help me get started and be a good reference for the more advanced capabilities of this software. This book has saved me a huge amount of time and frustration by starting at a very low level on how to use the software. This gives you confidence to tackle more complex tasks. The book then can be used as a reference to show you how to accomplish those tasks. I appreciated the consistent style, good illustrations, and especially the hints. It is a well written guide and reference for beginning and intermediate digital videographers.

Perfect for my needs

Simple, to the point visual walkthrough of what you need to know to create smooth semi-professional videos. Not cluttered with the stuff you'll never use. Focused on those things that you really need and will really use.

Fantastic!

After wrestling with the program for more than a month, I was able to get it up and running in just a few minutes. After browseing in the book for 5 minutes I learned new tips and found the errors I was making. After ten minutes I was making a movie. The book is beautifully illustrated in color. The displays match the computer images perfectly. Well written for the new person wanting to get into digital video editing. This is a must along with the user manual from Adobe. Has great tips for short cuts. Will work with both Windows and Mac users. Numbered steps take you from one phase to the next without missing a beat. Adobe tells you what the buttons are for and what they do. Doug shows you how to use them to make a movie. I would recommend Adobe buy up a bunch of them and include them in their kit. I highly recommend it. Hey, did I say I liked the book?

Good Stuff!

After spending a week banging my head on a gate post with the Peachpit Visual QuickStart Premiere 6, which for anyone starting out is completely inpenetrable, I finally gave up. I hunted around all the major bookshops in London in the hope of finding a decent alternative, only to come up with nothing. Eventually my search led me to How to Use Premiere 6, which is an absolute godsend. I reckon to be up and running in no time.
