How to Prepare for the AP Spanish (Book and Compact Discs)

My CD didn't want to work.... But it was useful.... I got 16 credit hours in Spanish for college.... But keep in mind that my first language is Spanish.....

Perfectly good book

I wouldn't call this book the ultimate test prep book, but I don't think such a book exists for the AP Spanish exam. After all, the exams tests one's cumulative knowledge of Spanish gained over the years and no book can provide someone with a high level of language profiency. Instead, the book provides a good deal of practice for the exam. Besides multiple choice and fill-in-the-blanks, it also includes pictures to study for the two-minute speaking section and a CD with prompts for the directed response (speaking). I found both the CD and the pictures especially helpful in preparing for the exam on my own. Other plusses of this book are the vocabulary lists and grammar overview, although I did not have enough time to utilize these throughly. To those considering using this book I would recommend buying it early and preparing from it earlier than the weekend before the exam, as I did. Still, the book did provide me with helpful practice and information, and I got a 5 on the exam. However, be aware that no book will allow you to succeed on the exam if you are not proficient in Spanish. Not this book, nor any other book.

good result

I don't know if it was due more to the book or to my prior study, but in any case I am happy with the result that I got after using this book!

too detailed, but very clear

Unlike Princeton Review, this is an incredible guide to the exam. The practice sections and explanations alone put it up much higher than "Princeton" was in that part. Even so, I would have liked there to be more practice sections, but that could be because I'm not a good test taker and need more practice than what they gave. I also could tell that I learned from my mistakes and their explanations by doing some sections more than once; there was a drastic improvement. The essays were amazing and very clear to understand. The makers even bolded certain phrases to show complex vocabulary.Even so, the chapter with lists of vocabulary- perhaps 1000 words in total- was daunting and slightly unneeded. Does the audience really need to learn all of the minerals, trees, fish, etc. in the world? Still, better over detailed than under detailed.Buy this book for your preparation! It's worth every penny.

Great Review!

This is a REALLY good review for the AP Spanish Language Exam just because of its comprehensiveness. You can find practice for EVERYTHING on the test, and a lot of it, in this book. Even if, for example, you don't need to practice listening but need extreme help with grammar or reading, there still is extensive review for both of the latter topics. Trust me, Barron's makes the best language reviews, and this is further evidence of that. I ONLY used this book to review and ended up with a 5.
