Hilarious

For those who found this book unfunny because the idea of hate is so horrible or you think she's a man-hater, please, get a sense of humor. This book is not meant to be therapeutic or taken seriously and the reason it's pointed towards a man is only because she's heterosexual. It's funny and refreshing and reminds people in moments of pain to find the humor in their situation and maybe they just need to allow themselves a little anger, then get over it.

Better than chocolate

I read this book when it first came out and I've been dipping back into it regularly for years. I've given it to friends going through hard breakups and friends who are blissed out in love. The response is always the same: "What a great book!" It's not just that it is wickedly funny, which it is, but I also found it to be comforting, insightful and powerful. I think all too often it's easy, or safer, for women to mask anger with depression. Anita Liberty lives out loud, and in the process, she tells a hell of a joke.

helps me all the time

i've read this book so many times, and whether i'm dealing with a breakup, breaking up with someone, need entertainment, or in the middle of nowhere in my social life . . . this book is hysterical. it makes me feel better all of the time and has helped me realize the stages of breakup so now i get over them faster. and oh, the first stage after a breakup is that HATE part! and this really gets a good hold on it! this is my chicken soup for the broken hearted!

A guy falls for Liberty's lines...

This book is indescribable. Or maybe I could compare it to being slapped around by some no-neck guys from Flatbush as Lenny Bruce blasts classic comedy routines into your brain and nasty little munchkins swarm over your body and tickle you with feather dusters while you scream and scream and scream with agonized laughter. No, that's not it; this book is just indescribable. But really indescribly great. Especially "Letter from Bert" and "A Very Cute Piglet." Ms. Liberty is a very funny poet; bitter, but with a smart take on life that takes some of the sting out of her slashing verses. Even a guy like me can appreciate them. I may be in love. Buy this book. Trust me, you won't be sorry.

YOU GO (HATE), GIRL!

Forget (the late) Leo Buscaglia, Dr. Joyce Brothers and--by all means--that hairstyle-stuck-in-the-70s, freaky-sex-change-looking, Bruce Jenner doppelganger, John Gray. Anita Liberty has her finger on the pulse of hateable men. In fact, she may have a razor blade there, too. Here's a chick who knows that the best defense is a good offense, revenge is a dish best served cold, and...well, she knows all of the cliches, but the point is, she also has some pretty good ideas. Anyone with a broken heart will have it stiched up in no time--and be in stiches--by her wickedly wonderful book.
