This book is helpful in helping organize and set up a perspective on buildings and rooms and objects and a basic setup of a short manga story, yet in lacks an in depth explanation on how it is carried out. Overall this is a good reference for people who wish to learn to draw manga.

This is a great book for beginning manga artists. It has many quality pictures and techniques. The only problem is some of the stiff translation.

If you are a beginner or an advanced illustrator I recomend that your library would not be seen without this book. The detailed descriptions really make it easy because they are so simple to follow. You can see your own progress in just a few hours by using the simple techniques listed in this book. I highly recomend this book.

How to Draw Manga: Compiling Characters is a good book for those who are interested in drawing manga style and are looking for a place to start. Intermediate and advanced artists should look elsewhere for tips and tricks. The book focuses breifly on faces, expressions, hair, foreshorting, anatomy, clothing, shadows, and character types. The begining of the book cover equipment and the average work schdule of a japaneses manga artist (which is quite different from their american counterparts). In several sections, cartoons are used to illustate how a particular effect is achieved. While amusing, I would have rather they condensed the information into words only and uses the extra space for more descriptive drawings. Still a good book.
